Il 4 dicembre sarà una serata all'insegna del reggae in tutte le sue forme dalle origini ai tempi moderni nel circolo arci Drugstore musicheart club. Visita di FAIZA e ROMEO REGGAE DJ a far gli onori di casa ai THE DUCKERS.

Faiza Cavallaro è nata a Nairobi (Kenya) da Padre Italiano e madre Somala. Le sue influenze musicali provengono da artisti reggae, new reggae e soul.

Romeo Reggae Dj è attivo nella scena reggae da diversi anni, musicista e già tastierista con i Mellow Mood. Le sue selection non lasciano mai indifferenti e il suo dj set è sempre molto ballato e apprezzato.

I The Duckers sono un gruppo ska-jazz nato nell’estate 2008 a Lignano Sabbiadoro, dall’incontro di alcuni giovani musicisti accomunati dal desiderio di concretizzare una passione già esistente per questo genere musicale, influenzati dalla musica di gruppi quali i The Skatalites, New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble, Mr. T-Bone & Young Lions, Prince Buster, The Specials...

La formazione è composta da: Trombone (Max Ravanello), Sax Tenore (Davide Mauro), Tastiere (Alessandro Cesone), Chitarra Elettrica e Lead Vocals (Alberto Frisan), Basso Elettrico e Vocals (Roberto Amadeo) e Batteria (Alberto Marinotto).

Gli Ska-j suonano musica jazz interpretata in stile afro-jamaicano (jazz-jamaica).
Il live della band è prevalentemente in acustico eseguito da voci, batteria, contrabbasso, chitarra, due sax e un trombone. Spesso quando lo spazio (e il soldo) lo consente è presente un organo Hammond.
Gli ska-j hanno suonato in diverse televisioni sia nazionali che locali (RAI, ROCKTV, SKY, ALLMUSIC), nelle radio nazionali e network: i più importanti Caterpillar radioRAI2 e per Venezia Suona radioRAI1. La qualità della proposta musicale ne fa uno dei gruppi più trasmessi nelle radio europee dedicate al jazz e allo musica jamaicana.
Sin dalla fondazione (2002) il gruppo ha suonato più di 400 concerti in Italia e in Europa.
Un sondaggio del MEI (Meeting delle Etichette Indipendenti) ha annoverato il brano Santamarta come uno dei otto brani dialettali più amati in Italia degli ultimi 20 anni.
Nell' anno appena cominciato gli Ska-J hanno collaborato con il Gruppo Alcuni per la realizzazioni delle musiche per il cartoon "Il Codice di Marco Polo" per 01Distribution. Durante il Carnevale di Venezia hanno presentato il cd live triplo DAL VIVO CON AMORE registrato durante l'estate 2009.
Nel 2009 hanno suonato in Festival Jazz (Fiemme ski jazz F. e Ubi jazz) e nel main stage del più importante festival reggae Italiano (Sunsplash) ribadendo la loro predisposizione al connubio jazz e musica jamaicana.
Nel 2008 per la promozione dell'album ADESSO EH! ne sono state stampate 300 copie in vinile di alcune di queste sono state dipinte le copertine da gli artisti Serena Nono e Daniele Bianchi. Da questo lavoro ne è uscito un catalogo con la presentazione di Tiziano Scarpa e una esibizione presso l'isola di San Servolo con la performance degli stessi Ska-j.
Sempre nel 2008 il gruppo è stato impegnato come backingband per il cantante trombonista tedesco Dr Ring Ding.
Altre tappe fondamentali: nel 2005 il disco TEE'K: con le collaborazioni di David Boato, Sandro Ghibellini e la Banda Osiris; nel 2004 il disco live MEN IN THE STRETT; nel 2003 il debutto discografico con VENICE GOES SKA (3500 copie vendute).

HARDDISKAUNT 2010: il gruppo più cool dello ska italiano ritorna nella sua formazione storica guidata dal tridente Mr. Borx, Luka Rudeboy, Tbone Biagio.

La band, che in quattordici anni di carriera e quattro cd ha esplorato lo ska in ogni possibile sfumatura e contaminazione, continua il suo percorso in levare risalendo alle origini giamaicane e inglesi di questa musica. In un vero e proprio ritorno alle radici nel nuovo spettacolo arriva una raffinata selezione di classici ska, rocksteady ed early reggae. Nella loro impeccabile eleganza rudeboy gli Harddiskaunt si muovono tra Wailers e Specials, tra Skatalites e Madness senza dimenticare le loro hit come Lo Squalo e Ganja Song.

Il più grande e leggendario gruppo ska di ogni epoca. Nel sound degli Skatalites c'è l'inizio di tutto: da loro discende tutto lo ska e il rocksteady esattamente come dai Wailers discende il reggae. Bastano 18 mesi scarsi per inseminare la musica dell'isola e la storia dello ska: molto più che una semplice band, o una riunione di solisti straordinari, gli Skatalites sono una vera e propria istituzione, il sound della Jamaica tra gli anni Cinquanta e i Sessanta.

biography: Line up: Lester Sterling / Lloyd Knibb / Doreen Shaffer / Cedric Brooks / Natty Frenchy / Kevin Batchelor / Val Douglas / Andrae Murchison / Cameron Greenlee When the Jamaican Military Band traveled to New Foundland in 1961, three years prior to the formation of The Skatalites, Lester Sterling was a member of the band. He was surprised to find the audience requesting Island music. In spite of this eye opening experience, for years, even the best Kingston producers primarily targeted their sounds to Jamaican dancehalls, with little thought paid to an international audience. When The Skatalites played St. Petersburg, Russia in 2001, the band was surprised by the international response. One pair of Russian musicians traveled over 8000 miles by train from Vladavirstock, playing their own brand of Russian acoustic reggae along the way to help pay their travel expenses. Latin American fans have been known to journey all the way to Europe to catch a glimpse of the founders of ska, who rarely play South America, which is having a ska renaissance. Japan is ska mad too, where tribute band The Skaflames have a solid following and have shared the stage with the ska forefathers. On a recent Skatalites tour in Japan, one young Japanese woman arrived with sax in hand, songs memorized, ready to play along. By the end of this year's tour, the Skatalites will have performed on every continent. Celebrating international unity, World Village Records releases From Paris With Love on May 13, 2003. The album was recorded in Paris and named after the skaliciously adapted film theme, "From Russia with Love." Nearly four decades after the Skatalites formation, From Paris With Love features five original members. Drum and bass team Lloyd Knibb and Lloyd Brevett pre-dates the Skatalites, having played together for 57 years. Saxophonist Lester Sterling, trumpeter Johnny 'Dizzy' Moore and soulful vocalist Doreen Schaeffer carry on the never-ending rhythm they pioneered. Cedric 'Im Brooks, musical arranger and bandleader for Count Ossie and diverse projects including the consummate Light of Sabba, adds his sax to the mix. Rounding out the roster are tenured Skatalites like jazzman Will Clark and Devon James, a fellow Jamaican who played the North Coast hotel scene with many of the original members. Ken Stewart came to the group 'by accident' in the mid-80's when the Skatalites started to trickle to the States. Before they regrouped, Lloyd Knibb started playing drums with Stewart in a local reggae band, and soon after they were both Skatalites opening for the Bunny Wailer Liberation tour. Kevin Batchelor, another reggae veteran, has played with Maxi Priest, Big Mountain and Steel Pulse. "Of all the Skatalites' albums since the re-grouping, this one is closest to the raw-sounding Studio One stuff," said Ken Stewart. "It's basically a live recording. We arrived in Paris on Christmas Day and did 15 tracks in 16 hours. In the studio, we turned off all the processors and we didn't do any overdubs. It was just Knibb and Sterling saying, 'Do this...Tweak that...' Those guys have incredible ears."
